SEO by platform · Wix
SEO for Wix makes use of the options the platform does offer (titles, descriptions, URLs, redirects, robots.txt and structured data) and works carefully where it is more restricted, such as speed and control over the code. At Pivoti Labs we optimize your Wix site and tell you honestly when the platform is no longer enough for what you want to achieve.
Yes, for many businesses. Wix lets you edit titles, descriptions and URLs, create redirects, modify robots.txt and add custom structured data. A local or service business with a site of a few pages can rank well on Wix if those options are used with judgment.
Its constraints show up on large sites or in very competitive searches: there is no server control, speed depends largely on the platform and some URL structures, such as the blog's, come with fixed prefixes. When those constraints start to hold back growth, we tell you with data and evaluate whether it makes sense to migrate to your own site.

Not as a first step. It is better to first get the most out of what you already have: many Wix sites improve a great deal just by having the SEO settings done properly. If after that the platform is still the brake, the migration is planned with 301 redirects for every URL so nothing gained is lost. The comparison of Wix and Shopify versus your own site explains when each option makes sense.

Wix lets you publish a site in very little time. The problem is that much of what matters for SEO is left on the default settings.

Generic titles, empty descriptions and pages never reviewed in the SEO panel. Wix generates them, but does not write them for you.
Animations, background videos and large images load a lot of code on mobile, and on Wix you do not control the server.
Renaming a page or the blog without setting up the redirect leaves broken links and throws away the rankings it had.
Designs where the important content sits in images or in elements Google reads with difficulty.
The platform has SEO tools. The result depends on using them well.

Everything is done from the Wix editor and SEO panel, with no need to change platforms.
Title, description, URL and indexing of every page reviewed one by one, with a main search for each.
The Wix redirect manager configured for every URL that changed or disappeared, leaving no broken links.
Custom schema.org markup for local business, services and FAQs, in addition to what Wix generates by default.
Compressed images, fewer animations and heavy elements, and a design built mobile first.
Connection with Google Business Profile and consistent contact details, key for businesses that serve an area.
Real text instead of images with text, well-structured headings and a blog configured to rank.

Yes. Wix lets you edit the titles, descriptions, URLs, redirects, robots.txt and structured data of every page. Its fixed parts are speed and server control.
Not for most local or service businesses with small sites. It falls short on large sites, on stores with many products or in very competitive searches.
Yes, those of your pages. Some sections, such as blog posts, use a fixed prefix. Every time you change a URL, set up the 301 redirect from the old one.
When, after optimizing what the platform allows, speed or structure still hold back growth, or when you need features Wix does not offer.
